Jeffrey R. Izzo
Jeffrey R. Izzo is a career diplomat currently assigned as an Energy Officer in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Economics, Energy, and Business Affairs where he is responsible for energy policy toward Western Hemisphere countries. Mr. Izzo has focused extensively on the potential of biofuels and other alternative energy sources as a tool for economic development in Latin America and the Caribbean. He also focuses extensively on U.S. – Canada energy relations. He is responsible for issuing Presidential Permits for cross-border petroleum pipelines, and in this capacity has overseen the production of several environmental impact statements. Mr. Izzo is also involved in formulating U.S. Arctic energy policy.
Mr. Izzo has served overseas in Hungary and Jamaica. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Mr. Izzo worked in the marketing and recruiting fields. He holds degrees in English Lit, Geography, and Geospatial Analysis from the University of Albany. He is married with two children.
