David Garman
David Garman is currently a principal in the consulting firm Decker Garman Sullivan and Associates, LLC, with a client base that includes Fortune 500 companies, national laboratories, universities and “greentech” startups.
Garman previously served as the Under Secretary of Energy and the Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, having been appointed by the President and unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate for each. Prior to his service in the Executive Branch, Garman served two U.S. Senators and two Senate Committees over the course of two decades.
He was twice awarded the Department of Energy’s highest award, as well as the Charles H. Percy Award for Public Service from the Alliance to Save Energy; the 2005 Energy Efficiency Award from the United States Energy Association; and similar awards from the American Jewish Congress, the Electric Drive Transportation Association, and others.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from Duke University, and a Master of Science in Environmental Sciences from the Johns Hopkins University.
